Season 16: Go to the Hostel and Get Me That Saw

MySpace Tom is a KillerThe 16th season of Tossed Off was innovative, to say the least, as the producers decided a "gimmick" would be a great way to increase viewer interest in the show. A number of gimmicks were reportedly discussed, including a live countdown timer clock, a Spanish-language only season, and casting the entire show with nude women.

For reasons which are lost to history, The Network opted not to cast the entire show with nude women (sigh), and instead implemented "interactive challenges" which allowed viewers to vote via website or cell phone and determine what punishments would be given to losing players.

In the end it was IT specialist Tommy "Space" Mann who ruled the day, defeating stripper Jolene Blalock (yeah, the same one) in the "Gruesome House of Grue" challenge.

Some viewers say they can still hear Jolene's screams when they watch anything with Scott Bakula in it.

Season 17: Back to Basics

Yay!On the heels of a flurry of lawsuits from internet service providers who "were uncomfortable" with the public using their bandwidth to direct torture and physical humiliation -- pansies -- The Network did away with interactivity, and went back to its roots, opting to air a season of Tossed Off without gimmicks or trickery.

The challenges were still difficult, of course, and fans to this day still remember watching convicted drug smuggler Gino D'sgustia writhe and wriggle through the "Bucket of Sandworms" challenge.

But it was the "Tanleysaurus Rex" mechanical monster truck crushing genetic monster lizard that helped hardbodied male model Derek win the final prize, disproving the conventional wisdom that a delicate gay man cannot control a mechanical monster truck crushing genetic monster lizard.

Season 18: Brrrrr! It's Friggin' Cold!

Brrrr!Typically, Pariah Island is awash with heat, bugs, humidity and even more heat. But an unseasonable cold snap -- hell, some called it a mini Ice Age! -- fell upon the island for Season 18. By episode 4, the entire island was covered in six feet of ice and snow, which made it tough for the bikini-clad women and over-waxed male models.

The Network came to the rescue by episode 13, though, and provided the four contestants who hadn't yet frozen to death with parkas. Ratings plummeted, as the typical sex-crazed audience of the show realized there would be little jiggling, bulging or glistening to be had for the rest of the season.

Calling in a few favors, Mike Tanley did manage to inject some excitement into the remaining challenges, having Soviet-era snowmobiles air-dropped in from Siberia, and then affixing them with flamethrowers for a wild race across the ice. "I thought it important to keep you warm," Tanley told the players, showing his great humanity once again.

Season 18 ended when stand up comedian Jerry Feingold lost out to Black guy (not sure what he did, but he was Black) Kwame Green in the "How Many Icicles Can You Take Rectally" contest.

Season 19: Jews Control Everything

Der GolemTossed Off went all meshuggina for its 19th season, which featured two tribes comprised solely of Jewish Americans, fighting it out for the grand prize. Contrary to expectations, there were no doctors, lawyers, or bankers in the cast, but there were plenty of male models, strippers, bartenders and strippers. Leave it to The Network to find hardbodies even in Syosset.

The season lasted a few weeks longer than anticipated, since no bug eating, pole standing, maze running or insult shouting was allowed on Saturdays. But this didn't mean the season lacked excitement, especially when Hasidic student Levi put the smack-down on Bukharan teacher Jacob by tricking him into eating C4 explosive. Proving our anti semitic viewers wrong, Jacob's last words were not "Oy!" but instead, "Holy shit, I just at C4!"

Season 20: Black Power

Wee!Twenty seasons of anything is a long time, and twenty seasons of Tossed Off is even longer than that. Or at least is seems like it. Following on the success of the "Jewish Season," this time around The Network decided to push the envelope of "edgy" television and the two teams were separated by race -- African Americans on Team Ubuntu, and American Africans on Team Sheka.

The division brought about some significant controversy when host Mike Tanley consistently confused the two teams, finally blurting out, "They all look alike to me!" Both the African Americans and American Africans were outraged at this insensitivity, although the predominantly white viewership of the show couldn't care less.

African American Goeffrey Lambert came out the winner, bringing more than one tear to the eye of America when he promised to use the $1 million grand prize to get his mother a new house in the Hamptons.

(Lambert has yet to fulfill that promise, since he's arrested each time he tries to drive out that far on Long Island.)
